American Red Cross and the B Positiv Foundation for Children with Cancer to Raise Money
Bend, Ore. –The American Red Cross and the B Positiv Foundation for children with cancer will host a 5 mile run/walk to benefit both organizations on Saturday, July 24, 2010. “Last year, we had close to fifty racers and it was a blast. This year, we’re counting on three to four times what we had last year. It just keeps growing,” said, Jen Collins, sponsor and donor development representative for the American Red Cross.
The race course will begin at Twin Knolls Drive in front of the American Red Cross building and go for exactly 5 miles, taking the participants on a rectangular route that will finish back at the Red Cross. First aid and water stations will be set up throughout the course and public safety officers will assist runners through the 27th Street and Ferguson intersection. Volunteers are needed along the course, at check-in, and to assist with other race- related activities. To volunteer, please call Jen Collins at 541-749-4109 or email her at collinsjm@usa.redcross.org
Participants and volunteers will be entered to win fabulous prizes donated by local businesses. The race is sponsored by several companies, including: Alert Safety Supply, Café of Life Chiropractic, Center for Life Chiropractic, Combined Communications, Dutch Bros., Fleet Feet, Foot Zone, NAPA Auto Parts, REI, and whole Foods. Awards will be given to the top finishers in the following categories: top male and female overall, top male and female who have survived cancer, top junior (12 and under), and the top finisher who is also an American Red Cross blood donor. “We are so grateful for the support we have received and we are thankful to everyone for helping each mile to mean something to so many people!” said, Daniel Pite, B Positiv Foundation manager and race organizer.
