The Prineville-Crook County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that DPR Fortis in conjunction with Facebook are the presenting sponsors for this year’s annual 4th of July Celebration in Ochoco Creek Park. The Celebration, entitled “Old Fashioned Family Fun”, will feature a full day of free entertaining events and activities for all ages. “Our goal is to provide a fun & entertaining event which is affordable for all families. This objective is even more prominent this year with the way the economy has hit our community. This year we have added new contests, games, and vendors,” “We are thrilled to have top-notch entertainment all day, including The Doug Zinn Band & Magician Calen Morelli. This year’s event will begin at 8:00 am with the start of the annual Splash ‘n Dash, which is a fundraiser for the CCHS track and cross country teams. The park opens at 10:00 am with the presentation of the colors and National Anthem. Local talent will be showcased on the stage which is sponsored this year by Eoff Electrical Supply. High Desert Dance Arts will perform their newest dances, along with Miss Crook County and Miss Prineville performing their title winning talents. The Park Bench Melodys a local band of two 14 year olds will showcase their talent by playing some bluesy rock music. The Chamber of Commerce BBQ lunch will run from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm featuring BBQ cheeseburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, chips, and a drink for only $5.00 per person. A local fan favorite, ‘The Doug Zinn Band’, will kick off the afternoon with classic rock that will have everyone dancing in the grass. Attendees are encouraged to sign up early to take part in the Holey Water Bucket Race, Watermelon Eating Contest, Hula Hoop Contest, Hip-A Dee Hop Horse Races, Obstacle Course and Horseshoe Toss. Winners in each game will receive cash prizes! There will also be Bungee Bull Riding, Whack-A-Wreck, Chicken Poop Bingo & a Dunk Tank. There will also be a Blue Ribbon Pie Contest! Throughout the day in the Kids Corral there will be fun, fun and more fun! With old fashioned race games, fun carnival style events, bounce houses, hay maze, and lots of opportunities to win fun toys. “We are excited to bring to Prineville this year Silly Lilly a Balloon Artist. Dozens of vendors will provide arts, crafts, jewelry, games, and retail items for sale. Many local non-profits will also be on hand to promote their organization recruit volunteers, and even adopting pets. Last year attendance was estimated around 4,000 people, making it one of the largest 4th of July Celebration’s in Prineville’s recent history. We are looking forward to growing that number this year as we draw people to Prineville from all over Central Oregon for a fun-filled day.
